Chapter 8: Remember Me This Way

Every now and then
We find a special friend
Who never lets us down
Who understands it all
Reaches out each time you fall
You're the best friend that I've found
I know you can't stay
A part of you will never ever go away
Your heart will stay

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way

Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way
Hmm.. this way

I don't need eyes to see
The love you bring to me
No matter where I go
And I know that you'll be there
Forever more apart of time, you're everywhere
I'll always cares

And I'll be right behind your shoulder watching you
I'll be standing by your side and all you do
And I won't ever leave
As long as you believe
You just believe

Remember Me This Way by Jordan Hill

It's been 10 months since I wrote something in my blog. And when I write something now, I feel like I'm suffering from writer's block and lack of imagination. Now I know what it feels like to be less active in doing something that you enjoy or appreciate.

As I was writing my latest entry, the one thing I remember writing in my blog was the end of 2012. So why not I do the same for 2013?

You see, not everyone in life will appreciate me for who I am and what I've achieved or lost. Some do. Others could care less about me or my life. For those who do, they can understand my experiences and walk with me on a pathway where I'm given directions to my destination.

I've created and been through moments in my life. Moments that captivated me, moved me, motivated me, inspired me, pushed me, taught me and even, moulded me to become a new creation for better and not for worse. Moments and memories like.....

Life as a Camp Instructor in High Achievers

I started 2013 with a job at High Achievers. It was a measly paid job, but I enjoyed the job experience and it became a useful job to train me as a leader. This is where I became an instructor for the students in both primary and secondary schools and I coached them with useful skills required to equip them for life at home, school and other places.

Outdoor Cooking with my students from Ai Tong School in Sarimbun Scout Camp.

I've done both local and overseas camps before. For local campsites, I've done it in campsites like Jalan Bahtera Adventure Centre, Labrador Adventure Centre(My Secondary 2 Camp was held there) and Sarimbun Scout Camp(I've had my scout camps in my secondary school days). As for overseas, I've done camps in Malaysia. One place in particular. Desaru Resort.

Sandcastle Building Competition with my students from Gan Eng Seng Secondary School in Desaru Resort.

My family weren't pleased with me taking this job because they wanted me to provide for them and not just paying my own bills and taking care of myself. This did not sit well for me. However, Rachel was the best thing in my life. She was the first to be happy for me when I got this job. Her happiness was all I need as a true act of support.

End of our camp with Beacon Primary School Students

I've taken part in school camps for some schools. Here are the details for which school I did and how long I've taken part in the school camps.

1. Swiss Cottage Secondary School : 10-12 January 2013(Sarimbun Scout Camp)
2. Nan Hua High School : 16-19 January 2013(JB Campsite)
3. Anderson Primary School : 23-25 January 2013(Sarimbun Scout Camp)
4. CHIJ St Nicholas Girls School : 28-30 January 2013(Labrador Adventure Centre)
5. Northland Primary School : 4-6 February 2013(Sarimbun Scout Camp)
6. Desaru Hiking Trip : 13 February 2013(Desaru)
7. Si Ling Primary School : 27 February -1 March 2013(Jalan Bahtera Camp)
8. Gan Eng Seng Secondary School : 6-8 March 2013(Desaru)
9. Innova Junior College : 14-16 March 2013(Desaru)
10. Ai Tong School : 25-27 March 2013(Sarimbun Scout Camp)
11. Beacon Primary School : 11-13 April 2013(Jalan Bahtera Camp)
12. Greendale Primary School : 18-19 April 2013(Jalan Bahtera Camp--> Belaying for Rock Climbing)
13. Jurong Primary School : 25-26 April 2013(Jalan Bahtera Camp--> My Last Camp)

End of our Camp with Nan Hua High School Students.

End of our camp with Swiss Cottage Secondary School Students.

After my last camp with Jurong Primary School, I ended my life as a Camp Instructor and moved on to my next profession. A government job.

Life as a Suppression Officer in Singapore Customs

A group photo with my teammates for a presentation in Singapore Customs.
After I left my job at High Achievers, I joined Singapore Customs as a Suppression Officer on May 20th 2013. I can't tell you much about my job description as I've to follow the Official Secrets Act in Singapore. And not many pictures can I display as well. Strictly Classified.
This was a God given job for me. As I prayed for a job to give me stability, God has blessed me with this wonderful job where I can develop my interest as a Suppression Officer. Rachel was truly happy for the blessings God has given me through this job and so did her family. But for my mum and my sister, what will they happy for? Benefit. I know my mum is happy that I've tried hard enough. As for my sister, well, I wish I didn't know. And let it stay that way.

Change of name in my IC

My Baptism Certificate from Heart of God Church.
When I joined Singapore Customs, my colleague was talking to me about name changing after I told her that I'm interested to make my Christian Name permanent. She advised me to go through a deedpoll first. Then I can change my name permanently.

My Deedpoll from W.M. & Low Partners.

Hence, I did just that with the help of my girlfriend. Rachel helped me to register with W.M. & Low partners, a law firm in charge of the Deedpoll and a few days of wait at the ICA for the change of name in my IC and passport. Once the wait was over, my name has finally been changed.

First Valentine's Day
Me and Rachel at Ang Mo Kio Jack's Place on February 14th 2013.
I wrote in Chapter 7 about my first Valentine's Day dinner with Rachel and it was a wonderful and proud moment of our lives. Before we celebrate our 1 Year anniversary of the day we met and the day we confessed our feelings for each other, we decided to go for our first valentine's day dinner.

Hair For Hope with true morale support
Rachel supporting me before I shaved my hair for Hair For Hope.

I know my hair is long and messy. But still, it's my hair which I'm donating to the Children's Cancer Foundation.
For Hair For Hope, this is my fifth attempt. I started my first in 2006. Then 2009, 2011 and 2012. 2009, I had a support from my good friend, Omar. But this time in 2013, I had true morale support in my girlfriend, Rachel and her parents. I'll always do this alone with no support from anyone. Surprisingly, not even my parents.

My New do after I shaved my hair off. Hmm.... I now resemble men like Michael Rosenburg who played Lex Luthor in Smallville, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Bruce Willis and many more.

1 Year anniversary of April 1st and August 3rd

1 year of April 1st anniversary.

1 year of August 3rd anniversary.
1 year has passed and by God's grace, we are still together as a couple. Haiz..... I wish we were married. But we'll let it happen in God's timing and blessing.
I celebrated our 1 year anniversary of our August 3rd with Rachel at Ambush Restaurant located at Plaza Singapura. And this is a picture taken by Rachel after my hair for hope.
For April 1st, we celebrated by going for a bike ride from Khatib to Ang Mo Kio and back to Khatib. We had a wonderful time and a wonderful moment too.

The bicycles used for our bike ride.
As for August 3rd, we went to ambush restaurant to have our lunch, dome restaurant for dinner and we went to watch two movies that day. We watched Red 2 in the afternoon and the Wolverine(in Rachel's slang. Hahahahaha!!!)
Below are the photos we ate at Ambush. Except for the last photo. Which was from Dome.

A pair of rings from Couple's lab which we are still wearing now. Originally, I wanted to buy it for Rachel only. But after insisting that I wear one, I'm wearing one too. Just for her.
My family's birthday
My mum's 60th Birthday

My sister's 33rd Birthday
My girlfriend Rachel's 23rd birthday
Besides my mum's and my sister's birthday, I look at my girlfriend as my family as well. Just like she and her family does for me. I'm glad that I could be there for them and buy what I could buy whatever gifts I can for my family for their happiness means a lot to me. For my mum, since it's her 60th birthday and it fell on 2nd July 2013, I bought her two pair of pants for officer wear and chipped in for the rolex watch my sister saw for her. And also the restaurant where my sister suggested for my mother.
60 mini donuts from JCO Donuts for my mother's 60th birthday.
My mum's dinner treat at Shahi Maharani Indian Restaurant
My sister's was next. Hers was on 11th August 2013. I had to skip service on a Sunday morning just to celebrate my sister's birthday. I was not happy at the moment but I threw it away so that I could see my sister smile. She doesn't know about it and it's best that she doesn't know.

My sister's birthday celebration with Rina, our weekend maid and little rusty who had to photo bomb this photo.
And our family portrait.
And now for my girlfriend's birthday. This is the 2nd time I've celebrated my girlfriend's birthday. The first time was at Thomson Dimsum shop and a gift of a book from Heart of God Church bookstore which I gifted Rachel with. And I had to hand over the gift to Rachel the next day before she takes the first flight to Chicago. And frankly, that's where I met her parents.
Me and Rachel at Ion Orchard after lunch.
Now, one year later on May 24th 2013, I celebrate her birthday with ease. No need to worry about making it to the airport. No need to worry about buying last minute gifts. Managed to bring her to Ion orchard Swensens, ordered a complimented firehouse ice cream cake, watched Fast and Furious 6 and enjoyed her birthday celebration with her family. And she wore a purple dress. Looking beautiful and sweet. Her presents were two pairs of footwears from Hush Puppies. Wanting to get her a bag, but she insisted on shoes instead.
The firehouse ice cream. Compliments from Swensens.

And my dear Rachel in her purple dress. Her favourite color.
        25 years old

The birthday cake my mum got for me.
A simple birthday celebration with my mother after work.
Rachel emphasized my age as a "25 YEAR OLD BABY!!!"(Laughter given). And yes, I turn 25 in October 11th 2013. And this is the second time Rachel and her family celebrated with me. Below are the photos of my birthday cake and the people who fed me. Uncle Patrick, Aunty Selvi, Rachel's maternal Grandmother, Pastor Gan Hock, Aunty Jean and Aunty Amutha.
My birthday cake for this year.

My birthday present from my mum. A pair of white Adidas Basketball Shoes.

And my mother and my sister also joined in. But they celebrated my birthday differently. They brought me to marche's for dinner and gave me a pair of Adidas Basketball shoes as a present. Something which I wanted to wear. That's where the shoes in my house started to trend in my house.

Christmas Presents

Christmas presents for My friends(Jie Ji, Tee Ang, Jonathan & Nigel), Aunty Amutha, Sakthi, Thiraviyum, Rachel's maternal Grandmother and Rachel's friend, Solomon.

Christmas presents for Rachel's family (Joshua, Sarah, Moses, Aunty Selvi and Uncle Patrick).

A Present from me to Rachel. A necklace from Cosmos.

A S3 Note Handphone for my mother. My first phone purchased for my mother.
This year, I've decided to give presents to everyone I love. My mum, Rachel, her family and my friends. Why? Because I want to be a giver. And I want to make everyone happy for their happiness is my present for Christmas this year. And guess what? I've got two presents myself. One from Rachel. A wallet. And another from my mother. A pair of Adidas Grey and yellow color combined shoes.

My old wallet. Which is now history.

And my new wallet. Picard brand. A present from Rachel.

Shoe Collection
Call me a vain pot all you want. But say hello to my colorful and trendy sport shoes collection. Sounds like a combination of confessions of a shopaholic and the devil wears prada. But in this case, it'll be Mason wears trendy shoes. And Rachel got influenced with my shoe collection that I bought some bright colors for her as well. Brands consists of Adidas and New Balance.

Ebay

I've heard of ebay for a long time. Until my girlfriend Rachel introduced me to this online purchase website. Rachel herself bought some merchandises for me and for herself on ebay. And now, I'm doing it for myself and for the first time, I did it for Rachel. Here are the purchases I made from Ebay. WWE T-Shirts.

New Year's Resolution and Rules and Challenges
For the past three years, I've achieved my new year's resolution successfully. And I didn't do it alone. God has helped me a lot along the way. And here are my new year's resolutions from 2011 till 2013.
2011: To Seize the Right Opportunity
2012: To Reach Out and Achieve Greatness
2013: To Put God First and Exercise Patience in every Situation
After much thought and answers received from the Holy Spirit, my new year's resolution for this year(2014) will be....
2014: Smile. Let Go. Forgive. Forget. Commit.
If God has planted those words in my mind and my heart, He will surely guide me this year and aid me in my choices I make, decisions I derive from and the prayers I've committed to Him.
As for my rules and restrictions, this year, I've changed it to Rules and Challenges instead. From PHTs to Go and Bes, I now have one word to sum up my rules. It's called Choose. And here are my rules.
1. Choose Intelligence
2. Choose Strength and Energy
3. Choose Thriftiness
4. Choose Punctuality
5. Choose Patience
6. Choose Responsibility
And that is the end of my blog entry. I believe 2014 will be a great year for me and everyone around me. And the best thing about it is that I can carry on to be myself in front of God and He will hold my hand to guide me along the pathway where He wants me to walk. Whatever the obstacles are in front of me, whatever trouble or danger that stands before me, all I have to do is......
Smile.
Let Go.
Forgive.
Forget.

Commit.
